WHO IT IS FOR · UPDATED 10 OCTOBER 2026
For made-to-measure manufacturers
When every order has its own size, every order has its own bill of materials. FactorySpec works it out from the rules your experts already use.
A good fit
- You make a known product family to order, in many sizes, finishes and options: frames, blinds and screens, access panels, enclosures or modular storage, for example.
- Each unit’s parts come down to components, counts, cut lengths and panel sizes.
- A product expert can supply the rules and worked examples, and approve them.
- You need each unit’s MBOM worked out the same way every time, whoever enters the order.
What changes for the team
- Product experts write the rules once and prove them with worked examples.
- Supervisors evaluate units and accept results, instead of recalculating each one.
- The shop floor gets a PDF for each unit with its parts, lengths and sizes, and can scan its code to check it is still current.
What stays the same
Your order system, ERP and accounts. FactorySpec takes a unit’s dimensions and options and returns its manufacturing requirements. Pricing, stock, scheduling and despatch stay where they are.
When it is not a fit
One-off engineering projects, design automation that starts from CAD, and products with no repeatable rules are better served by other tools.
